CONFIRMED

Apple has released visionOS 27.2 for Vision Pro, and its release notes go beyond the “just bug fixes” framing some coverage has used. Apple confirmed new Siri AI controls, four added Siri languages, SynthID watermarking support and a FaceTime accessibility feature. As AppleInsider points out, though, nothing in this update is built specifically for the headset.

What we know

Apple’s developer releases page lists visionOS 27.2 as build 24N120, released October 26, 2026. It follows visionOS 27, which shipped September 14 after Apple announced it at its September 9 event, according to 9to5Mac. A visionOS 27.0.1 update (build 24M372) arrived in late September. iClarified reports that the 27.2 release candidate, build 24N118, was seeded to developers on October 19.

Apple’s release notes, which we read through iClarified’s full reproduction, say the update provides bug fixes and security updates. They also list new Siri AI features.

The first is an Excluded Apps setting. It lets you choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access. For a device that sits on your face and sees a lot of your digital life, that control is welcome.

The second is granular text selection, so you can copy just part of a Siri response instead of the whole thing.

According to Apple’s notes, Siri AI also gains support for French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. Apple says Siri AI is not available in mainland China.

The notes also add SynthID watermarking support, which helps identify images generated or modified with generative tools in Photos and Image Playground. Finally, FaceTime can now add a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call.

What we don’t know yet

Apple’s notes do not detail which bugs or security issues were fixed, so we can’t say whether any long-standing Vision Pro annoyances are gone.

AppleInsider reports that Apple skipped visionOS 27.1 because that number was kept for the iPhone Duo. Apple has not said anything about that in the material we have.

AppleInsider also says EU users will see the App Tracking Transparency prompt at least once a year. Apple’s notes, as reproduced by iClarified, do not mention this, so treat it as unconfirmed for now.

Some outlets list an additional Siri language beyond the four in Apple’s notes. We have not verified that, so we are sticking with the four Apple lists.

What it means

Describing this update as “only bug fixes and performance improvements” doesn’t match Apple’s own notes. Those notes list real feature additions, and they mention security updates rather than performance improvements.

AppleInsider’s bigger point still holds, though. Every new feature here is a cross-platform Apple change. Excluded Apps, Siri text selection, new languages, SynthID and the FaceTime interpreter option all read like features rolling out across Apple’s lineup, with Vision Pro getting them along with everything else. AppleInsider goes further and says Vision Pro is not a priority for Apple. Nothing in this release pushes back on that view. There is nothing new for spatial computing, immersive content or the headset’s hardware.

So is it worth installing? Yes. Apple says the update includes security fixes, and that alone is reason enough on a device you use for browsing, messaging and FaceTime. The Siri privacy toggle is a nice bonus if you use Siri on the headset.

If you were hoping for headset-specific upgrades, this isn’t that release. Install it for the security patches and the Siri tweaks, and keep your expectations for spatial features low until Apple shows otherwise.
