CONFIRMED

Meta’s cheapest smart glasses so far are here. Meta’s newsroom says the $249 Meta Adventurer goes on sale Oct 23 in every country where Meta Glasses are sold. The catch is a plug-in case that cannot recharge the glasses away from an outlet. Shoppers in the Philippines and Hong Kong will have to wait: Meta lists both for its Ray-Ban and Oakley lines later in 2026.

What we know

Meta announced the new Meta Adventurer at Connect 2026 on Sept 23. The $249 USD model comes in a black frame with grey lenses and ships with a plug-in case. Meta calls it its most accessible price yet. Pre-orders opened on Meta.com on Sept 23, and Meta set Oct 23 as the on-sale date in all countries where Meta Glasses are sold.

That same day, Meta made Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) available from $449 USD. According to 9to5Google, Meta also showed the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio at Connect: $349, 43g, rated for 12 hours plus 48 hours from its case.

Meta’s list of new markets includes Hong Kong, the Philippines, Turkey, Poland, Portugal, Israel, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, New Zealand and Malaysia. Meta’s blog version also names Macau.

Two stories doing the rounds are wrong. A widely shared Rappler piece saying the glasses are “not in the Philippines yet” is from March 2024 and covers the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta at P29,990 (US$299). The distributor, House of Branded Lifestyle Inc., said at the time that the units were only for exhibition and that the price and pre-orders were announced in error. It has nothing to do with the Adventurer.

The $249 Adventurer is also not the full package. Meta’s own listing pairs it with a plug-in case. Men’s Journal and TheStreet report that the $299 configuration adds a battery case worth up to about 40 hours, which the $249 version lacks.

What we don’t know yet

Battery life is the big gap. Men’s Journal reports the Adventurer lasts “more than eight hours” per Meta, but we could not find that number on a Meta page. Hackster.io cites 12 hours plus 48 from the case, which matches the Audio model’s rating instead. Until Meta publishes a spec, treat every Adventurer battery figure as unverified.

We also do not know whether the Adventurer itself comes to the Philippines or Hong Kong. Meta’s expansion announcement covers Meta Glasses alongside Oakley Meta, Ray-Ban Meta and Ray-Ban Meta Optics, but no local Adventurer date or price has been posted for either market.

Hong Kong’s timing is muddled. Meta’s September posts say “later this year” for new markets including Hong Kong. Hong Kong outlets EJ Tech (Oct 21) and Sina HK (Oct 23) report that Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) at HK$3,759 and Ray-Ban Meta Optics at HK$3,919 officially went on sale in Hong Kong and Macau on Oct 20. Those are not sources we can confirm, and a reseller blog from around Oct 19 said there were no official stockists yet. Treat local pricing as unverified until Meta or Ray-Ban posts it.

In the Philippines, Gadget Pilipinas says Vision Express Philippines posted a “coming soon” teaser for Ray-Ban AI glasses, with no price, date or branch list. The same page reportedly posted and pulled a similar teaser in May 2026. Meta’s September market list remains the official basis for a Philippine launch.

What it means

At $249, the Adventurer is the easiest way into Meta’s glasses. But the plug-in case means no topping up in a bag on a long day out. If you live on your glasses during travel or commutes, Men’s Journal and TheStreet’s reporting suggests the $299 battery-case version is the one to look at.

Without a confirmed battery number, buy on Meta’s return terms, not on a spec someone quoted.

For Manila buyers, the official word is “later in 2026” for the Ray-Ban and Oakley range; in Hong Kong, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) and Ray-Ban Meta Optics officially launched on Oct 20 at HK$3,759 and HK$3,919. Ignore the 2024 Rappler story, and wait for Meta or an authorized retailer to post real prices.
