CONFIRMED
Even Realities has launched Brown 2, a brown tortoiseshell version of its camera-free Even G2 smart glasses. Engadget reports the glasses cost $649 and are available now, alongside a $149 polarized clip and a $79 chain. This is a new look for the existing G2, not a new generation of the hardware.
What we know
Engadget reports that Brown 2 is essentially the same hardware as the standard G2. The main differences are the colour and a slightly lower weight. If you already know what the G2 does, you know what this does.
Engadget reports two frame shapes: a rounded style and a more square style. That tracks with the original lineup.
The craft angle is the selling point. According to Engadget, Even Realities says each Brown 2 frame is individually shaped, pressed, tumbled and polished for 20 hours. The company says this creates subtle variations between pairs, so no two tortoiseshell patterns should look identical.
Pricing, per Engadget: $649 for the glasses, $149 for the clip and $79 for the chain, all on sale now. For context, Engadget’s G2 review listed the base G2 at $599. That puts Brown 2 at a $50 premium over the standard model.
The clip is a separate product from the one Even Realities already sold. The company’s store page lists the earlier G2 Clip & Pouch at $99 in grey, green or brown. The new polarized clip sits above it at $149.
Software has moved too. Engadget notes a recent G2 update added new gestures and more refined on-glasses controls. Engadget also notes the glasses can now monitor AI coding agents, a niche feature that suggests Even Realities is courting developers who want status updates without looking at a screen.
What we don’t know yet
The big open question is whether the control update fixes the G2’s main weakness. Engadget’s review gave the G2 a 6.9/10 and called the controls erratic and difficult to use. New gestures and “more refined” controls sound like a direct response, but we have not seen a fresh hands-on that confirms the problem is solved.
We also don’t have details on how much lighter Brown 2 actually is. Engadget describes it only as “a bit lighter” than the standard G2, while Even Realities calls Brown 2 “the lightest Even G2 design to date.”
Several other outlets have reported a worldwide launch starting Oct 26, 2026, a stainless steel chain and an accompanying software update branded Even AI 2.0 with a Knowledge Base feature. We have not verified those details against an approved source, so treat them as unconfirmed for now.
What it means
Brown 2 is a style play, not a spec bump. Even Realities is leaning into the idea that smart glasses should look like glasses first.
The $649 price and the $149 clip push the G2 further into premium eyewear territory. Add the optional R1 smart ring, which Engadget says costs $249, and a fully kitted setup climbs fast.
For buyers, the calculation is simple. If you liked the G2 but wanted something that reads more like a boutique frame, Brown 2 delivers that with identical internals. If the controls put you off, the software update is the more important news, and it applies to the hardware platform rather than just this colourway. Wait for hands-on impressions of the new gestures before deciding the G2 has turned a corner.
